Pillars of Our High-Value Micro-School

Authentic Exposure and Experiences

This is the HIGHEST VALUE of The Lamp of Knowledge. Our environment is authentic at its core! Our days are structured to allow time for children to learn outdoors, go on field trips, explore, connect with others in our neighborhood, create, play, garden, cook, and learn skills related to real life! There is so much JOY in our days! Your child has a unique opportunity to build leadership skills, participate in community service projects, and learn from guest speakers!

Balanced Approach to Learning

Lamp of Knowledge students have a motto, “We work hard and we play hard!” Students are coached and encouraged to work with dedication and excellence. Independent and Cooperative Learning methods are infused through instructional times. Students also have ample opportunities to enjoy this time of childhood with passion projects, choices throughout the day, and time spent outdoors discovering and creating!

Small Classroom Sizes

to fully invest in Individualized Learning Plans for each Student. We are dedicated to understanding the needs of our students by developing a "family-like" culture to gain meaningful and healthy relationships to promote positive learning opportunities.

Wholesome Learning

treasures the healthy balance for student learning. We deliver productive learning blocks throughout the day for students to work through a combination of independent, cooperative , and teacher student conferences.

Experiences and Exposure

is dedicated to incorporating family farming into our learning week through field trips to our family cattle ranch, and local Fruit/ vegetable orchards.

Faith-Based Virtues

proudly recognizes Jesus Christ as our savior. By bringing the word into practice through daily reading and prayer transforms us as students into faithful learners.

Building our Community Up

We are always looking for ways to invest our time and energy into understanding how we participate and respond in ways that are meaningful. How can we put this into practice and how we can make a difference?

Progress Monitoring

As children continue on their learning path, parents will be continually updated. Students will learn content in a group setting and also work independently. The Lamp of Knowledge is not standards-centered, but student-centered. As the learning progression continues, students will be assessed on his/her level throughout unit studies and with individualized learning goals. All completed work and assessments will come home at the end of each week for record-keeping. Students will receive a progress report in November, February, and May. We believe our children are more than a quantified measurement, therefore letter grades are not used as a means of progress. Rather, students are assessed through coaching, projects, daily work, and useful progress monitoring techniques. Parents will receive all completed work and assessments to file and keep in a portfolio for 2 years. The portfolio is to be reviewed by a certified California teacher at the end of the school year. If students are in need of remediation or require content beyond the scope of the curriculum, The Lamp of Knowledge will employ such strategies to ensure success!

The Lamp of Knowledge firmly believes God is the Creator and Sustainer of our unique school
